This site is dedicated to the memory of Northampton State Hospital which stood overlooking the city of Northampton from the cornerstone ceremony on Hospital Hill in 1856 to the demolition of Old Main in 2006.
Together with local partners in history, advocacy groups, artists, educational organizations, and interested citizens it is the hope and purpose of this site to preserve the symbolic and subtle truths of the State Hospital through research, interviews, and galleries.
NorthamptonStateHospital.com is privately owned and operated at no expense to, or affiliation with the City of Northampton. In May 2007 this site received the endorsement of the Northampton State Hospital Memorialization Commission’s recommendation plans to the Northampton Citizen’s Advisory Committee.
